The North of Iceland may not be a long distance away from Reykjavík and the south yet somehow the area can seem completely different. The landscape of the north is strewn with volcanic activity and geothermal activity which all alter the landscape in various ways. The north of Iceland also often has a very different climate to other parts of Iceland with much warmer summers and likewise much colder winters.
