A south coast adventure that will allow you to see all the best sights that southern Iceland has to offer, culminating in the gorgeous Glacier Lagoon.
Jökulsárlón (the Glacier Lagoon) is one of the longer day tours that Iceland has to offer but it is certainly worth the drive. Located on the south east part of the island the glacier lagoon is a beautiful example of Icelandic nature which is fed from the Vatnajökull glacier.
As the ice breaks away from Vatnajökull it drifts through the water of the lagoon and towards the ocean which creates a dynamic landscape that is constantly shifting. You will be able to see this up close and personal as you head out onto the water on a small boat.
We will also have some time during the drive to visit additional stops on the south coast including the mysterious Seljalandsfoss waterfall that you can walk behind and the small fishing village of Vik.
After pick-up the bus starts from here on the journey.
Pick-up from accommodations and special Tour Bus Stops in central Reykjavik is between 07:00 and 07:30. Then the buses meet at 10-11 Kringlan and the tour departs from there at 07:30.
A small breakfast stop is made at a gas station in Hvolsvöllur.
This stop is aimed to get a small breakfast if needed and to use the bathroom before heading to the first attraction of the tour.
See huge amounts of water coming down from this waterfall!
Skógafoss Waterfall is 25 meters wide and 60 meters high. Experience the noise water can make falling down a cliff and be maybe lucky by seeing rainbows formed by the spray of this natural wonder.
Gaze the Skaftafell surroundings and get lunch if you're hungry!
Freysnes is surrounded by mountains, glaciers and rests of glacier bursts. On this stop you can either enjoy the fantastic views or get some food in the restaurant.
So much ice is waiting to be explored on the boat tour!
Glacier Lagoon is the largest and the deepest glacier lagoon in Iceland, located in the south east part of Iceland. The lagoon branches from Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier of the Vatnajokull glacier the largest glacier in Europe. You will be going on a 30 minutes boat ride on the lagoon.
Diamond Beach displays the contrast between black sand and chunks of ice which get washed up from the Glacier Lagoon.
Welcome to the lovely village of Vík!
With only just about 320 inhabitants does Vík have a lot to offer. You can either have some dinner in one of the restaurants or in summer when it's still bright at this time of day, take a short walk to the beach to have a look at the famous Reynisdrangar.
Did you ever stand behind a waterfall? Give it a try at Seljalandsfoss!
This magnificent waterfall is 66 meters high and let's you even walk around it. But be careful: You might be soaked afterwards. On a good day you will also be seeing the Westman Islands or Vestmannaeyjar from here.
The tour ends with drop-off in Reykjavik.
After drop-off we will head to our headquarter at Skógarhlíð 10.
